Type Locality and Naming
North-central Zhejiang. Naming and Type Locality: The Xiawuzhai Fm was named by Kong Xiangsheng et al. in 1989 and published in 1995. The naming section is situated in Xiawuzhai, Xiaosi, Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province. Upper-middle formation of the Chencai Gr.
Synonym: (下屋宅组)
Lithology and Thickness
The formation is composed of grey-black, grey augite amphibolite, hornblende leptite, biotite-monzo-leptite, plagioclase leptite and hornblende plagioclase leptite, accompanied with laminated and striated migmatite. Its lower part is dominated by different kinds of leptite and the upper part is dominated by hornblendite. The thickness varies in the range from 439 m to 690 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in conformable contact both with the underlying Xiahetu Fm
Upper contact
It is in conformable contact both with the overlying Xu'an Fm
Regional extent
The formation is mainly distributed in Zhuji, Longshan, Yuyao and Shangyu counties of Zhejiang Province.
